Jeeping the Assateague Island Beach

Jeeping the Beach at Assateague Island National Park
One (very) warm day in mid-November we took our first foray onto the sands of Assateague Island. We are now officially an Over Sand Vehicle (OSV) and capable of traveling along the surf for a dozen miles – south to the Maryland/Virginia border.

With permit in hand, er…make that affixed to the windshield, we headed over the first dune to the beach and turned south. We stopped a couple miles in and nosed up near the surf for a few photos – above. Then we headed back for a refreshing glass of orange juice at Harborside in West Ocean City, some shopping (parked next to a PINK Jeep Grand Cherokee) at “the Outlets,” and to grab a few shots of the Jeep with the Ercoupe at Ocean City Airport.
